  • Rhythm Control 2 revives the classic 2012 release for modern mobile devices.
  • Available on Android, featuring music from both Western and Japanese artists.
  • Tap along to the beat and rack up impressively high scores!

I've always been surprised by the relative lack of a thriving rhythm game scene on mobile. While there have been notable successes like Space Ape's Beatstar, much of the genre remains firmly rooted on PC and other platforms. However, a surprising comeback has arrived with Rhythm Control 2, now available on Android!

Observant—and, my apologies, perhaps more seasoned—readers might recognize the name. Rhythm Control 2 was originally released back in the golden year of 2012. The first game reportedly topped charts in Japan and Sweden, making a sequel a logical next step.

Featuring tracks from a diverse range of Japanese and Western artists like Bit Shifter, YMCK, Boeoes Kaelstigen, and Slagsmålsklubben, Rhythm Control 2 offers a fresh take on the gameplay. Instead of tapping descending icons, you interact with six nodes in sequence. The patterns grow increasingly complex, introducing new twists and challenges as you progress.

Rhythm Control 2 strikes me as a valuable addition to the genre and a welcome return to mobile gaming. While I enjoy Beatstar, I've often felt its music selection plays it a bit too safe. Isn't the essence of a rhythm game about chasing high scores and being challenged by obscure tracks—perhaps a Japanese techno song that sparks a deep, lasting fascination with a niche genre?

Or is that just me?
