Resident Evil Requiem Gameplay Showcases Dual-Perspective Action
Capcom unveiled the first glimpse of Resident Evil Requiem gameplay during a recent livestream, offering brief but chilling footage.
At the Capcom Spotlight 2025 event, viewers saw first-person gameplay emphasizing horror, introducing FBI Agent Grace Ashcroft as the new protagonist. She navigates eerie corridors armed only with a lighter, encountering a menacing humanoid figure looming in the darkness.
Another first-person segment showed Ashcroft exploring a grand hallway, now wielding a handgun, reflecting her FBI training. Her calm, analytical approach was highlighted as she examined a toolbox in the iconic Resident Evil close-up style.
A fleeting third-person gameplay clip revealed Ashcroft moving through shadowy corridors and dimly lit rooms, with the same terrifying creature stalking nearby.
Capcom developers explained that the first-person perspective delivers "intense, immersive horror," while the third-person over-the-shoulder view enhances "dynamic action." The latter suits players who prefer fast-paced gameplay, they noted.
Resident Evil Requiem allows seamless switching between first- and third-person modes via the Options menu throughout the campaign. For deeper insights, read IGN’s Resident Evil Requiem hands-on preview.

No Leon Kennedy appearance was revealed, disappointing some fans who anticipated his return. Capcom’s developers made intriguing comments about Leon’s potential role, which we explore further here.
