Pokémon TCG Shatters World Record with Epic 24-Hour Card Opening Marathon

The Pokémon Company International has achieved a new Guinness World Record, setting a new standard for the longest unboxing livestream. On November 26th, 2024, a 24-hour marathon unboxing event celebrated the launch of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion.

This record-breaking feat involved popular online personalities such as Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv, who collectively opened over 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products. The final tally? An estimated 20,000+ cards! The event was streamed live on Pokémon's official Twitch channel.

Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "It's been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators."

The celebration doesn't end there! The Pokémon Company promises further giveaways on participating content creators' channels within the next two weeks. The impressive collection of cards amassed during the livestream will be donated to various charities before the holidays, including Barnardo’s in the UK.

Released on November 8th, 2024, the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion transports players to the Terarium, a key location in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk. This expansion introduces powerful Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, including Archaludon ex with its formidable Metal Defender ability.

Fans can also discover iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex. The expansion features captivating illustration rare and special illustration rare cards, including Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas, showcasing serene ocean scenes.
