PSA: Don’t expect everything to be available on day one, June 5. Some titles will launch with the console, but others will follow later. For instance, Donkey Kong Bananza won’t hit shelves until July 17, and major titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A are still absent from preorder listings on both Switch 2 and the current model.
For those looking to enhance their gaming setup, we've got you covered with new Switch 2 accessories. Today's the day to add the new Joy-Con 2, Switch 2 Pro controllers, a camera, and more to your basket.
How Much to Upgrade Switch Games to Switch 2 Edition?
Nintendo has quietly confirmed the cost of upgrading two more Switch games from the original Switch to the Switch 2: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree. These upgrades are not inexpensive.
Upgrading The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom from the original Switch to Switch 2 will cost $9.99. However, Nintendo Life and Eurogamer have noted that both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree will cost more than double that amount.
While precise U.S. prices are not yet available on the American Nintendo eShop—possibly due to ongoing trade issues—the UK Nintendo eShop lists the upgrade pack for £16.99 / €19.99, significantly higher than the £7.99 / €9.99 charged for upgrading either Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom.

Switch 2: Game-Key Cards?
It has recently emerged that almost all physical third-party Nintendo Switch 2 games revealed in Japan so far are Game-Key Cards, and a similar trend is evident in the West. In the US, Sega's Switch 2 games, such as Sonic X Shadow Generations and Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, are listed as Game-Key Cards.
However, we’ve identified just four third-party physical Switch 2 games that aren't Game-Key Cards: Cyberpunk 2077, Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, and No Sleep For Kaname Date - From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES Aiba Edition.
Switch 2 Game Previews
IGN recently had the opportunity to go hands-on with two of the most anticipated Switch 2 launch titles: Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World. Both are available for preorder starting today, and here's what Brian Altano and Logan Plant had to say about these highly anticipated games.
Donkey Kong Bananza: "I also think Bananza is on track to be one of the most visually stunning Nintendo games I’ve seen. It truly leverages the Switch 2's hardware – the environments are breathtaking, and DK’s animations are incredibly expressive. I left feeling like the next generation of first-party Nintendo games had truly arrived."
Mario Kart World: "Mario Kart World feels like the definitive Switch 2 launch game and will certainly be one of the defining games of the Switch 2 generation. The new open-world format and Knockout Tour modes are significant additions to the franchise, the visuals are stunning, the gameplay is a blast, and we can’t wait to play more, even if we wish it was a few dollars cheaper."
