Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed easily-missed encounters throughout the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent buffs, extra passive skill points, and weapon set skill points. The Sisters of Garukhan encounter is one such example, appearing twice in the campaign and granting a permanent +10% Lightning Resistance upon interaction. This guide details how to locate and activate this valuable buff.
Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan
The Sisters of Garukhan shrine is located within the Spires of Deshar map in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with the shrine grants the +10% Lightning Resistance buff. Its inconspicuous icon on the world map often leads to players overlooking it.
Due to PoE 2's randomly generated maps, the shrine's exact location within Spires of Deshar varies. However, diligent exploration will reveal it. The shrine resembles the image above. Upon interaction, nearby metal automatons will activate and attack. Activating the shrine triggers all automatons on the map.
Reaching the checkpoint near the exit before interacting with the shrine allows for fast travel back to the shrine's vicinity, avoiding unnecessary combat.
Claiming the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff
The +10% Lightning Resistance buff is applied instantly upon interacting with the Sisters of Garukhan statues. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; it activates upon touching the shrine.
The Sisters of Garukhan encounter is repeatable in Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine twice yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.
Troubleshooting: Why Isn't My Lightning Resistance Increasing?
Many players find it confusing that despite activating the Sisters of Garukhan, their resistance values remain negative. This is because PoE 2 applies a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances after each Act completion (Chaos Resistance is unaffected).
Therefore, activating the shrine in Act 2 initially nets zero Lightning Resistance (the buff cancels the Act 1 debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, activating the shrine increases Lightning Resistance from -40% to -30%.
To verify the buffs are active, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance value indicates that all campaign buffs have been correctly applied.
