Among the most eagerly awaited releases from last year, one that truly caught my eye was Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage. The original Pirates Outlaws was a standout in the swashbuckling roguelike deckbuilder genre, and now its sequel, set to launch in Q3 this year, promises to elevate the experience even further.

This eagerly anticipated sequel, playfully dubbed a "seaquel," returns you to the adventurous world of New Elysia, where you'll embark on another thrilling journey across the high seas. Start your voyage by selecting a character, their class ability, and a starting deck, and set sail into the unknown!

Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage introduces a wealth of new features to enhance your gameplay. Choose from multiple characters, each with seven class options, allowing you to tailor your deck to your preferred playstyle. You can also recruit an animal companion, adding an extra layer of strategy to your battles. With an upgraded turn-based combat system and a new card evolution tree, you'll have an arsenal of tools to conquer the seas!

Run out the gunsPirates Outlaws 2 is set to be a significantly expanded sequel, offering greater freedom to explore the map and a vast array of card and character combinations. For PC players, an upcoming Steam demo will provide the first opportunity to dive into the game and test your skills on the high seas!

While I'm excited about the game, I did notice that the animations in the reveal trailer seemed somewhat static. Fully animating these illustrations can be challenging, but I'm hopeful that the final release will feature more dynamic effects when it arrives on mobile later this year.
