Palworld Introduces Crossplay in Late March Update

Palworld developer Pocketpair is gearing up for its much-anticipated crossplay update, set to launch in late March 2025. In an exciting announcement on X/Twitter, Pocketpair revealed that this update will not only enable multiplayer across all platforms but also introduce the highly requested world transfer feature for Pals. Alongside a promotional image showcasing Palworld characters in a battle against a massive Pal, the developer teased additional surprises to come with the update.

This news is especially thrilling for the game's 32 million players who have embraced Palworld since its early access debut in January 2024. Pocketpair's content roadmap for 2025 is packed with exciting additions, including the crossplay update, an "ending scenario," and further new content for the wildly popular creature-catching survival game.

Launched on Steam for $30 and simultaneously available on Xbox and PC through Game Pass, Palworld shattered sales and concurrent player records upon its release. The overwhelming success led to significant profits that Pocketpair struggled to manage, as noted by studio head Takuro Mizobe. Capitalizing on this, Pocketpair quickly moved to expand its reach by forming Palworld Entertainment in partnership with Sony, aimed at broadening the game's IP and bringing it to the PS5.

However, the game's success has not been without challenges. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair, alleging that Palworld has infringed on "multiple" patent rights. In response, Pocketpair has identified the specific patents in question and made adjustments to the game, particularly in how players summon Pals. The developer remains steadfast, committed to defending its position in court, stating, “We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings.”
