Palworld Dating Sim Confirmed: Not an April Fools' Joke, Says Developer

Developer Pocketpair has announced an exciting new addition to their massively popular monster-catching universe with Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a dating sim that promises to bring a touch of romance to the franchise. Revealed on March 31, this isn't an April Fools' Day prank, despite the timing raising some eyebrows among fans who are wary of the flood of fake announcements expected to hit the internet as April 1 approaches.

Pocketpair is keen to reassure skeptics that Palworld! More Than Just Pals is, in fact, a legitimate project. The concept for the dating sim originated from last year's April Fools' Day stunt, which humorously introduced the idea of More Than Just Pals as a faux game. Now, it's becoming a reality and is slated for release on PC via Steam, though an exact date has yet to be announced.

This new title promises to be a unique addition to Pocketpair's universe. Palworld! More Than Just Pals invites players to step into the shoes of a transfer student at the prestigious Palagos Private Academy, where they'll have the chance to befriend and possibly fall in love with a diverse cast of student Pals. Characters like the "cute" and "mysterious" Katress and the "timid" Chillet, drawn from Palworld's creature roster, will play central roles in this romantic adventure.

According to Pocketpair's official description, players will navigate school life, forming friendships and potentially romantic relationships with their Pals. The game even humorously suggests the option to "dismember and eat" them, adding a quirky twist to the typical dating sim experience. Bucky from Palworld took to social media to confirm the game's legitimacy, stating, "This doesn't concern April Fools :)"

As Palworld celebrated its one-year anniversary in January, the game continues to evolve with new updates, keeping fans engaged while they await Palworld! More Than Just Pals. Recent updates have included crossplay support, Blueprint upgrades, a photo mode, and more, ensuring players have plenty to explore. Meanwhile, hopes for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Palworld remain alive, but even if a Switch port doesn't materialize, there's optimism that the dating sim could find its way to the console in the future.
