Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con Leak: A Closer Look at the Next-Gen Controller

Recent online leaks offer the clearest images yet of the Nintendo Switch 2's Joy-Con controllers, potentially confirming design details and features. While the Switch continues to see game releases into 2025, speculation surrounding its successor is intensifying, especially given Nintendo's confirmed announcement before the end of their 2024 fiscal year. With a rumored March 2025 launch, leaks regarding the Switch 2's specifications and features are becoming increasingly prevalent.

Images surfaced on the r/NintendoSwitch2 subreddit, purportedly originating from a Chinese social media platform. These high-quality images showcase the back and side of a left Joy-Con, revealing key details. The images corroborate previous rumors about a magnetic connection system for the controllers, replacing the traditional rail-based design. This magnetic attachment is clearly visible.

The leaked Joy-Cons appear in a predominantly black color scheme with blue accents, similar to the original Switch's color options, although the blue is more subtle. The images also provide a glimpse of the button layout, showing notably larger "SL" and "SR" buttons, and intriguingly, a third, unlabeled button on the back. This additional button is speculated to be a release mechanism for the magnetic Joy-Con connection.

The leaked Joy-Con design aligns with other circulating leaks and mockups of the Switch 2 console. However, until Nintendo provides official confirmation, these details remain unverified. The leaked images, nonetheless, offer a compelling preview of what the next-generation Joy-Cons might look like.
