Nintendo Switch 2 Image Reveals C Button on Joy-Con
Nintendo has officially confirmed that the mysterious new button on the Nintendo Switch 2's Joy-Con is indeed the C button, putting an end to the swirling rumors. This confirmation came through the recently launched Nintendo Today! app, whose listings on the App Store and Google Play feature an image that, upon close inspection, clearly displays the letter C on the button.
The C button made its first appearance alongside the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this year. Initially, the images of the new Joy-Con didn't label the button, but now the rumors have been substantiated: it's officially the C button.

Speculation abounds regarding the purpose of this new button. Some gamers believe it might enable wireless casting to a TV or facilitate screen sharing. Others theorize it could alter the Joy-Con's functionality, perhaps converting it into a mouse mode. There's also talk about it possibly enhancing group or voice chat features.
Nintendo has scheduled a Switch 2 Direct for April 2, which should shed more light on this intriguing new feature. In the meantime, here's what we know for sure about the Nintendo Switch 2:
- Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch in 2025, with a likely release not before June, based on the hands-on event schedule.
- The console is larger than the original Switch, and its Joy-Con controllers are bigger and designed to function as a mouse.
- It features two USB-C ports, one at the top and one at the bottom, unlike the original Switch which had only one.
- The Nintendo Switch 2 is backward compatible, capable of playing both physical and digital games from the original Switch, as well as exclusive Switch 2 titles. However, some games from the original Switch might not be fully compatible.
- A new Mario Kart game is in development for the Nintendo Switch 2.

The Nintendo Today! app is designed to be a comprehensive hub for Nintendo enthusiasts, offering a daily calendar and a steady stream of news. Miyamoto emphasized that following the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, fans can use the app to stay updated with daily news and developments.
