Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following the recent CES 2025 event, where accessory maker Genki unveiled a purported 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup, Nintendo has issued a statement clarifying the situation. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper reported Nintendo's confirmation that the images and videos circulating are unofficial. The company explicitly stated that Genki's showcased hardware is not an official Nintendo Switch 2 unit and was never supplied by them.
Genki, an American manufacturer of gaming accessories (controllers, SSDs, chargers, etc.), generated significant buzz by presenting the 3D-printed model and hinting at possessing a functional Switch 2 unit, along with a purported release date. Their website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 accessories, complete with an animated mockup of the console.
This contradicts Nintendo's official stance. While Nintendo has not yet made a formal announcement regarding the Switch 2, they've confirmed plans to share details soon. The only confirmed feature is backward compatibility with original Switch games. Given Genki's claims, Nintendo may feel pressured to accelerate their official announcement of the console.
