Monster Hunter Now tests monster outbreak feature
Exciting developments are underway in Monster Hunter Now as Niantic trials a new concept called Monster Outbreaks. The company will gather player feedback during this testing phase to refine the feature before considering a full launch.
Monster Outbreaks Testing Schedule in Monster Hunter Now
The limited-time test will occur on April 26th and 27th during specific windows each day. Players can participate twice daily on both Saturday and Sunday from 10:00-10:59 AM and 3:00-3:59 PM local time.
During these special events, designated outbreak zones will spawn clusters of challenging 8-star Black Diablos monsters. The community challenge requires coordinated groups to defeat 100 Black Diablos within each outbreak zone during the one-hour window - not globally, but localized per outbreak point.
Participation requires Hunter Rank 11 or above. Notably, only physical co-op hunts count toward the goal - remote party features are disabled for this special event.
Outbreak locations appear marked with unique icons on the in-game map. Tapping these markers reveals detailed information, including a sign-up register where hunters can coordinate meeting times with others.
A Formidable Challenge Awaits
The monster elimination mechanic introduces an interesting twist - each Black Diablos defeat contributes based on participant numbers. For example, a four-hunter success counts as four eliminations toward the communal 100-target.
If hunters achieve the 100-slaughter goal before time expires, they can continue hunting for the remainder of the hour. These outbreak zones exclusively feature Black Diablos during these test windows.
Successful completion brings valuable rewards: 3 Black Diablos Tailcases, 3 Ridges, 3 Primeshells, 3 Marrows, and 2,000 Zenny for achieving the 100-monster milestone. Participants who register via the in-game roster also qualify for a special Outbreak Test I Medal.
Ready for the challenge? Download Monster Hunter Now from the Google Play Store and join the Monster Outbreaks testing this weekend.
