Microsoft has officially announced its plans for June, including an Xbox Games Showcase 2025 and a dedicated The Outer Worlds 2 Direct. The company traditionally holds a June event to unveil upcoming Xbox titles, and this year is no exception. The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 is scheduled to be livestreamed on Sunday, June 8, at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK time.

The showcase will provide a glimpse into the future of Xbox gaming, featuring upcoming titles from Microsoft's first-party studios as well as exciting new games from third-party partners worldwide. Microsoft stated, "in addition to incredible new titles from our third-party partners across the globe."

Xbox Games Series Tier List

Microsoft has a robust lineup of games in development, including the new Fable, which has been delayed to 2026, the Perfect Dark reboot, inXile's Clockwork Revolution, Ninja Gaiden 4, Contraband by the Just Cause series developer, Rare's Everwild, The Coalition's Gears of War: E-Day, Hideo Kojima's OD, and Undead Labs' State of Decay 3. Double Fine, known for Psychonauts, is also working on a new title.

On the Activision Blizzard front, a new Call of Duty game is expected later this year, alongside various releases from Blizzard. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is set to launch in July, which may be featured in the showcase.

Bethesda fans are eagerly awaiting news on the next steps for Starfield, including a potential PlayStation 5 release date. There's also anticipation for updates on The Elder Scrolls 6.

In terms of hardware, Microsoft is rumored to be planning a next-gen Xbox console and an Xbox handheld for 2027. While the 2025 showcase might be too early for detailed announcements, Microsoft could discuss Xbox-branded handhelds from third-party companies.

Following the success of the 2023 Starfield Direct and 2024 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, Microsoft will host a The Outer Worlds 2 Direct immediately after the Xbox Games Showcase. Developed by Obsidian, fresh off the release of Avowed, The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will offer new gameplay, details, and insights directly from the developers of this award-winning, first-person sci-fi RPG. Given that The Outer Worlds 2 is slated for release later in 2025, a release date announcement seems likely.

The Xbox Games Showcase and The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will be digital-only events, with no in-person theater experience this year. Microsoft assures fans that the livestream will deliver "everything you’ll need to know about what’s next for Xbox, no matter where in the world you’re watching."
