Metro 2033's "Cursed" Mission: A Comprehensive Guide

Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, especially after the release of the VR title, Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on a particularly tricky mission early in Artyom's journey: "Cursed," set in Moscow's Turgenevskaya station (also known as The Cursed Station in the game). This mission often confuses players due to unclear objectives and the station's layout. It begins after the railcar ride following the anomaly encounter.

Locating the Bomb

Bomb Location After meeting the defenders by the barricaded escalators, you'll learn an explosives crew went missing while attempting to collapse a tunnel to stop the nosalis attacks. Your task: find and detonate the bomb. Expect constant nosalis attacks; retreat to the defenders for help if overwhelmed. The bomb is at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows directly ahead – they'll damage Artyom. Once you have the bomb, either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if needed.

Destroying the Tunnel

Tunnel Destruction To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective). A cutscene will trigger, showing Artyom planting and lighting the fuse. Escape quickly! The blast is lethal at close range. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb thrown into the same area achieves the same result. Note: nosalises will still infiltrate through other routes.

Securing the Airlock

Airlock Destruction The mission isn't over yet. The defenders mentioned an airlock that needs to be sealed. Head up the stairs on the right to the torchlit area (ignore the nosalises). Interact with the support columns to plant and detonate a pipe bomb. Again, immediate evacuation is crucial. With both tunnel and airlock compromised, proceed with Khan to the shrine room, initiating the "Armory" mission.
