Mega Evolution is coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket! This exciting announcement was made during the Pokémon World Championships in Anaheim. Several other major updates were also shared, so read on for the complete details.

Prepare for Mega Evolution in Pokémon TCG Pocket!

At the closing ceremony of PWC 2025, three Mega Evolution cards were officially unveiled for the first time in Pocket: Mega Altaria ex, Mega Blaziken ex, and Mega Gyarados ex.

This reveal also confirmed that Pocket will bypass the traditional evolution method used in the main Pokémon TCG. Instead of requiring the standard form to Mega Evolve, Mega Blaziken evolves directly from Combusken, Mega Gyarados from Magikarp, and Mega Altaria from Swablu.

With their impressive 210 HP and extremely high damage potential, these Mega Pokémon raise an important question: how will such powerful cards be balanced within Pocket’s current points system?

The solution is that defeating a Mega Evolved Pokémon grants the opponent three points. Since three points currently end the match, this makes Mega ex cards high-risk options that should not be played early in a battle.

Another point of interest is the regional focus. Two of the three cards—Mega Blaziken and Mega Altaria—hail from the Hoenn region, which has not yet been featured in Pocket. It remains unclear whether these Mega Evolution cards will be included in the A Series or if they will introduce the B Series.

When will the new cards be released?

The new cards are scheduled to launch this fall, potentially as early as October. While more details are expected closer to the release date, Mega Evolution is set to introduce a high-risk, high-reward dynamic to Pokémon TCG Pocket.
