Marvel Comics' flagship Star Wars series is set for a May 2025 relaunch. The new series, picking up after the Battle of Jakku and the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War, will follow Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa as they strive to establish the New Republic and restore order to a galaxy still reeling from conflict.

Alex Segura, fresh from his Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku miniseries, pens the new volume. Veteran Star Wars artist Phil Noto (Star Wars: Poe Dameron) provides the illustrations, with Noto and Leinil Yu contributing cover art for the debut issue.

Set approximately two years post-Return of the Jedi, Segura and Noto's Star Wars series unfolds in a hopeful yet precarious era. The New Republic's rise to power faces immediate challenges from opportunistic pirates, criminals, and other antagonists exploiting the power vacuum.

"Having concluded the Galactic Civil War with the Battle of Jakku, we're launching into an uncharted era," Segura explained to StarWars.com. "Expect new galactic threats, enemies, and mysteries for our heroes to confront, blending familiar elements with fresh and surprising twists. These stories will be action-packed, featuring character moments fans expect, while ensuring accessibility for new readers. We're incredibly excited."

Noto added, "Alex's storylines and new characters are fantastic, and I'm thrilled to bring them to life. It's exciting to depict the classic characters in the post-Return of the Jedi era without existing film or TV versions to constrain my artistic interpretation. I'm creating new looks while drawing inspiration from the original actors."

Star Wars #1 launches May 7, 2025, coinciding with Star Wars Day celebrations.
