Marvel Rivals Reverses Mid-Season Rank Reset Decision Amidst Fan Backlash

In a swift response to player feedback, Marvel Rivals has backtracked on its recent update concerning player rank resets. The decision to reverse the mid-season rank reset, announced in Dev Talk 11, comes after significant fan outcry over the original proposal outlined in Dev Talk 10. Initially, the game planned to reset player ranks by dropping them down four divisions every 45 days, a move that was met with criticism for being discouraging to players striving to advance in the rankings.

Dev Talk 11: Updates on Seasonal Rank Adjustments

The reversal was communicated via an official post on the Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account. The developers have confirmed that there will be no mid-season rank reset, ensuring that players retain their scores and ranks from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season reset will still occur, with players dropping down six divisions.

Human Torch, The Thing, and Other Upcoming Updates

Despite the change in rank reset policy, Marvel Rivals is moving forward with other planned updates. The introduction of new heroes, Human Torch and The Thing, remains on schedule, bringing the total roster to 39 heroes. NetEase Games has committed to releasing two new playable characters per season, which lasts three months.

Rewards for players reaching the Gold rank and above will stay the same, with those achieving this rank post-update receiving a free Invisible Woman costume. Players ranked Grandmaster and above will be awarded Crests of Honor. Additionally, new rewards at the end of the season for those reaching Gold rank will include another free costume and Crests of Honor for those at the Grandmaster level and above. While balance adjustments are expected post the mid-season update, specific details have not yet been disclosed.
