Marvel Rivals' Mister Fantastic: A Hilariously Stretchy Debut

Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman joined the Marvel Rivals fray this past weekend, kicking off Season 1 on January 10th. While Invisible Woman's reception has been generally positive, Mister Fantastic's unique abilities have sparked a wave of memes and amusement amongst players.

His elastic powers, designed for both Duelist-style attacks and tanking, have proven surprisingly goofy in execution. Comparisons to One Piece's Luffy are rampant, fueled by Mister Fantastic's "Elastic Strength" ability. This has even inspired the modding community to create custom One Piece skins, despite NetEase's recent crackdown on modding.

His "Reflexive Rubber" ability, while strategically useful for redirecting enemy damage, is particularly meme-worthy due to its visual absurdity. The transformation into a refrigerator-sized rubber man has provided endless comedic fodder.

The character's design, however, has been widely praised. One Reddit user commented, "Ngl I think Mr. Fantastic's design encapsulates everything great about this game. He's stupid and silly and cheesy and the game just lets him be that and is better for it."

Despite the initial humorous reactions, Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman have undeniably made a strong first impression. The arrival of The Thing and Human Torch in the latter half of Season 1 is highly anticipated, promising even more exciting (and potentially hilarious) additions to the Marvel Rivals roster.
