"Marvel Revives 2008 Iron Man Villain for MCU's Vision Quest"

May 07,25

Marvel enthusiasts have an exciting update to look forward to: a familiar villain from the inaugural Marvel Cinematic Universe film, *Iron Man*, is set to make a comeback in the upcoming *Vision Quest* series. According to Deadline, Faran Tahir will reprise his role as Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar, the leader of the Afghanistan terrorist group who held Tony Stark captive in the iconic cave scenes from *Iron Man*. This marks a significant return for the character, who hasn't been seen since the opening 30 minutes of the 2008 film.

Raza's return is reminiscent of other surprising comebacks within the MCU, such as Samuel Sterns from *The Incredible Hulk* appearing in *Captain America: Brave New World*. In *Vision Quest*, Tahir will join Paul Bettany, who reprises his role as White Vision following the events of *WandaVision*. While a release window for *Vision Quest* has yet to be announced, fans are eager to see how this narrative unfolds.

It was revealed that his group was part of the Ten Rings, a significant organization that was further explored in *Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings* in 2021. This connection suggests that Raza was a commander within the Ten Rings operating in Afghanistan, opening up possibilities for a narrative link between *Shang-Chi* and *Vision Quest*.

Much like *Deadpool & Wolverine* delved into the more whimsical elements of the discontinued Fox Marvel universe, *Vision Quest* might be looking to explore forgotten or underutilized aspects of the MCU. Adding to the excitement, James Spader is reportedly set to return as Ultron for the first time since *Avengers: Age of Ultron*, though details about his involvement remain scarce.
