No Man's Sky Voyagers Update Spurs 2016-Level Player Surge

Nov 12,25

The latest free Voyagers update for No Man’s Sky has launched with remarkable success, attracting the highest player count since the game’s original release in 2016.

Sean Murray from Hello Games celebrated this milestone on X/Twitter by sharing a screenshot showing 97,986 players online at that moment, adding, "Highest number of players since launch," followed by a "mind blown" emoji.

Since then, the peak has climbed even higher, with Steam reporting a recent 24-hour peak of 98,285 concurrent players.

No Man’s Sky is an exploration and survival title set in a vast, procedurally generated universe. The Voyagers update introduces numerous features that Hello Games has been developing over time. Highlights include the Corvette Ship Class, the ability to form a multiplayer crew, sky diving, diverse cockpit designs, a new expedition, mission radar, and additional elements.

A new experimental build has also just been released on PC, bringing further fixes and improvements.

No Man's Sky is not the only title experiencing a surge in players this week. Although the player count for Hollow Knight has remained fairly consistent over the past six months, the announcement of Hollow Knight: Silksong's release date — September 4! — has sparked renewed interest and nostalgia, effectively doubling its usual player numbers overnight and breaking the previous concurrent player record set in March 2022. This is especially impressive for a game that originally launched back in 2017.
