No Man's Sky: A Guide to Obtaining Solanium

Solanium, a crucial resource in No Man's Sky, is exclusive to planets with specific climates. This guide covers finding, farming, and crafting Solanium.

Locating Solanium-rich planets

Finding Solanium:

Unlike Frost Crystals, Solanium is found on hot, arid planets. Use your starship scanner to identify planets with descriptions like "Arid," "Incandescent," "Boiling," or "Scorched." The scanner will also indicate Solanium as a resource. Upon landing, use your Analysis Visor to locate Solar Vines – tall, rock-like plants with glowing vines. You'll need a Haz-Mat Gauntlet to harvest them. Phosphorus, also found on these planets, is a key ingredient in Solanium crafting.

Farming Solanium:

After completing the Farmer's Agricultural Research mission, you can cultivate Solar Vines. Use a Hydroponic Tray or Bio-Dome, planting them with 50 Solanium and 50 Phosphorus. On hot planets, direct ground planting is possible. Allow approximately 16 real-time hours for growth before harvesting.

Crafting Solanium:

Several Refiner recipes produce Solanium, most requiring Phosphorus (often obtained from hot planets or purchased from traders/Galactic Trade Terminals). Recipes include:

  • Solanium + Phosphorus (to create more Solanium)
  • Phosphorus + Oxygen
  • Phosphorus + Sulphurine
  • Di-hydrogen + Sulphurine

Note that all recipes, even those using Sulphurine, necessitate a visit to a hot planet. Establishing a Phosphorus farm at your base is recommended for a consistent Sulphurine supply.
