Edwards' X post showcased never-before-seen images, including the title card ("The Invincible Iron Man"), Genepool Software's logo, and gameplay screenshots. He followed up with original Xbox gameplay footage, showing the startup screen and a desert-set tutorial. The project commenced shortly after the release of Genepool's X-Men 2: Wolverine’s Revenge.

Despite positive fan reaction, Activision cancelled "The Invincible Iron Man" months after development began. Genepool Software subsequently closed, leaving the team unemployed. While Activision never publicly explained the cancellation, Edwards suggested several possibilities: delays to the film adaptation, dissatisfaction with the game's quality, or another developer being selected for the project.

Commenters noted Tony Stark's design differed significantly from the MCU portrayal, resembling the "Ultimate Marvel" comic book version. Edwards stated the design was the artist's decision. He promised more gameplay footage, but this is yet to be released.
