How to Join the Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 Public Test Server
Since its September 2024 launch, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has consistently received post-launch updates, especially for its online multiplayer. Want to get a sneak peek at upcoming content? Here's how to access the public test server.
How to Join the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Public Test Server

It's important to note: the public test server is currently only available on PC. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players will need to wait for the official release of any new content.
Accessing the server for PC players is straightforward via Steam. Simply locate Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 in your Steam library. The public test server will appear as a separate entry below the main game—but only if you've already purchased the game on Steam. Once found, download and install; it's a separate download from the main game.
What's Included in the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Public Test Server?

The public test server offers a taste of new PvE and PvP content, including new and modified weapons and customization options. The majority of changes are in PvE, featuring a brand-new map, relaxed class restrictions on weapons, and altered online gameplay features. Remember, this content is a work in progress and may change substantially before the official release.
Online gameplay improvements include enhanced matchmaking for both PvE and PvP, focusing on balanced teams. PvE matchmaking aims to prevent players from selecting the same class, and includes a prestige leveling system. PvP offers expanded lobby customization options.
A final note for PC players: mods will not work on the public test server. While you can create and customize content using available assets, it won't be saved to your main game. Currently, there's no confirmation on whether progression or content from the test server will transfer to the main game; it's not expected.
