Switch 2 Offers Two Language-Based Versions

The Nintendo Switch 2 will have distinct pricing for Japan and international markets. It comes in two variants: a Japanese-language version exclusive to Japan and a multi-language version for global use. The Japan-exclusive model is priced at approximately $330, while the multi-language version costs $449.99—a difference of over $100. This gap reflects the yen’s weaker value against the USD, reducing incentives for tourists to buy in Japan.

Residents in Japan can opt for the multi-language version, but the Japanese-language model is restricted to Japan, requiring a Nintendo Account set to the Japan region. This version supports only Japanese and is compatible solely with software from the Japanese Nintendo eShop.

Nintendo advises fans seeking multilingual support to choose the multi-language version. Further details on this model will be announced on April 4.

Switch 2 Available Via Lottery at My Nintendo Store

To purchase a Nintendo Switch 2, customers can enter a lottery through the My Nintendo Store. Starting April 24, retailers and online stores across Japan will also accept reservations or lottery entries, subject to availability. To qualify for the My Nintendo Store lottery, applicants must meet these criteria:

　⚫︎　By February 28, 2025, you need at least 50 hours of Nintendo Switch software playtime (excluding demos and free titles).

　⚫︎　At the time of application, you must have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription with a minimum of one year of cumulative membership.
