The announcement of Neil Druckmann's latest game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, has sparked a wide array of emotions among fans. Recently, Druckmann provided the first insights into its setting during an appearance on the Creator to Creator show.

The game is set in an alternate future that branches off from our reality in the late ‘80s. In this universe, a new religion emerges and rapidly becomes the dominant force. Naughty Dog has dedicated several years to crafting the lore of this religion, detailing its journey from the emergence of its first prophet through its various transformations and eventual distortions.

This religion originates on a single planet and eventually becomes isolated from the rest of the galaxy. The protagonist of the game crash-lands on this very planet, finding herself in a completely deserted environment. One of the central themes of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is survival in isolation. Unlike previous Naughty Dog titles, which often included a companion for interaction, this game challenges players to navigate the world and solve problems entirely on their own if they hope to escape.

Despite being in development for four years, there is still no word on a potential release date. Fans will need to stay tuned for further announcements to learn more about this intriguing new title from Naughty Dog.
