Insider: GTA 6 special edition and additional GTA Online payments can cost up to $150

Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, spearheaded the trend of $70 AAA game pricing. Concerns exist that they might increase prices even further with the release of Grand Theft Auto VI.

While a standard edition of GTA VI might remain in the $70 range, avoiding a price point of $80-$100, industry insiders suggest a premium edition priced between $100-$150 could be offered, potentially including early access.

According to Tez2, a known industry leaker, Rockstar/Take-Two will sell GTA VI Online separately at launch, unlike previous titles. The story mode will be part of a "complete package" encompassing both online and single-player components.

This separate online component will influence the overall pricing. The question remains: how much will the online portion cost, and what will be the price of the story mode upgrade for those purchasing only the online version?

By offering a lower-priced online version, Take-Two could attract players unable to afford the full $70 or $80 game. This strategy is advantageous because these players might upgrade to access the story mode. Conversely, some players might desire the story mode but lack the funds for the upgrade.

Take-Two could further capitalize on this by offering a subscription service similar to Xbox Game Pass, leveraging GTA+. Players choosing continuous gameplay over saving for an upgrade will generate sustained revenue, ultimately benefiting Take-Two.
