Hyper Light Breaker: Hoverboard Guide
Quick Links
Navigating Hyper Light Breaker's sprawling, Synthwave-infused Overgrowth can feel like a chore—unless you master the Hoverboard. While not explicitly explained, this essential tool is available from the game's outset. Think of it as a supercharged sprint, significantly boosting your movement speed while gradually depleting your Energy. This guide will show you how to use it and unlock its full potential.
How To Summon A Hoverboard In Hyper Light Breaker
Summoning your Hoverboard is surprisingly simple: just hold down the Dodge button. Your Breaker will dash forward, seamlessly transitioning onto the Hoverboard as long as you maintain the button press.
Controlling the Hoverboard is intuitive. The left analog stick controls direction; leaning the board subtly steers you. Turning is slower at higher speeds, allowing for more precise maneuvering at lower velocities. To dismount, simply release the Dodge button. The Hoverboard will also automatically deactivate if your Energy runs out.
Keep an eye on your Energy meter (displayed next to your Breaker's companion). If it gets low, dismount briefly to allow it to recharge; otherwise, you'll be abruptly ejected from your ride.
Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses
While the Hoverboard doesn't offer tricks or combat capabilities, it boasts some surprisingly useful features. Most notably, it floats on water, eliminating the need to navigate around rivers and waterways. Its performance remains consistent on both land and water; simply maintain your speed to effortlessly glide across the surface. Note that you can't summon the Hoverboard while submerged—you must already be riding it to traverse water.
Another useful trick: while on the Hoverboard, holding the Jump button allows you to crouch, aiding in precise jump timing for challenging gaps. Although this doesn't boost speed or jump height, it significantly improves accuracy for longer jumps.
