Hollow Knight: Silksong to Be Playable at Australian Museum in September 2025
IGN has learned that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available to play at an Australian museum starting in September 2025.
Team Cherry’s highly anticipated game, in development for years, consistently ranks among the most desired titles on Steam’s wishlist. Based in Adelaide, South Australia, the studio has not specified a release date beyond a broad 2025 timeframe, but visitors to Australia’s national museum of screen culture, ACMI, can experience it starting September 18.
Silksong will be featured at the Melbourne museum during the Game Worlds exhibition, which will also showcase elements of the game’s design and artistic vision.

ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell stated: “Since its 2019 announcement, Hollow Knight: Silksong has captured global attention as a leading indie game. We’re excited to highlight this South Australian creation as a centerpiece of our Game Worlds exhibition in September.
"From the intricate sprites that bring Hornet’s movements and attacks to life, to the mechanics behind the game’s toughest boss battles, our Silksong displays explore the artistry and design in depth. We’re also thrilled to offer playable access in the gallery. We deeply appreciate Team Cherry’s trust and can’t wait to share their creation with visitors!"
As part of the reveal, ACMI provided a sprite sheet from Silksong, one of several design components featured in the Game Worlds exhibition. The image was shared with IGN with permission.

Hollow Knight fans are naturally curious about what this means for Silksong’s official launch. A playable museum exhibit starting September 18 suggests a release could occur beforehand, possibly in August.
Excitement is building in the Hollow Knight community. Silksong briefly appeared during Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct last month, followed by Team Cherry confirming the 2025 release window.
The game’s fleeting appearance in the hardware-focused presentation offered a few seconds of new gameplay and a clearer sense of Team Cherry’s updated launch plans, marking the most significant update on Silksong in years.
Initially announced for Nintendo Switch and PC, with Xbox (and Game Pass) and PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions added later, Silksong has been the subject of curious teases over time. Team Cherry started 2025 with a cryptic hint involving a chocolate cake recipe, sparking fan speculation about a potential April re-reveal.
