WoW's Feast of Winter Veil: A Lore-Filled Holiday Celebration

The annual World of Warcraft Feast of Winter Veil, a digital Christmas celebration, returns with fresh rewards and collectibles. A new lore video, a collaboration with PlatinumWoW, unveils the holiday's rich history.

The video explores the event's origins, weaving together Dwarven myths about Greatfather Winter (a Titan-forged giant), Tauren traditions of gratitude and renewal, and the modern-day commercialization by Smokeywood Pastures (a Goblin enterprise).

This engaging narrative also features the infamous Metzen the Reindeer, a recurring character whose unfortunate kidnappings (by pirates, Dark Iron dwarves, and even the Grinch) are recounted with humorous detail. The video cleverly concludes with Metzen expressing thanks in Thrall's voice, a nod to Chris Metzen's voice acting for the iconic Orc Shaman.

A History Steeped in Tradition

The Feast of Winter Veil, much like its real-world counterpart, offers players special in-game rewards and activities. This year's additions include new transmogs, the Grunch pet, and the ability for Hunters to tame the Dreaming Festive Reindeer.

This isn't PlatinumWoW's first collaboration with Blizzard. Past projects include lore deep dives into Nerubians, Vrykul, the Scourge, World Trees, and Blackrock Depths. Blizzard's recent collaborations with content creators like Taliesin & Evitel and Hurricane demonstrate a commitment to enriching the WoW experience.

Players can participate in the Feast of Winter Veil until January 5th, 2024. Don't forget to check for a special gift under the tree in Orgrimmar or Stormwind – a tradition continuing from last year's Junior Timekeeper's Racing Belt toy.
