Following the successful launch of Quidditch Champions this week, Warner Bros. Discovery has exciting news for fans of the magical world of Harry Potter: they've confirmed plans for a sequel to last year's blockbuster action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy, which was the best-selling game of 2023.

Warner Bros. Discovery has officially announced their intention to develop a sequel to the critically acclaimed and massively popular action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy. This Harry Potter-themed game, which captivated players worldwide, sold over 24 million copies since its debut. During the Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels shared the exciting news with Variety.

"Obviously, a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest priorities in a couple of years down the road," Wiedenfels declared. "So there is certainly a significant growth contribution from that [games] business in our strategic outlook here."

David Haddad, head of Warner Bros. Games, highlighted the game's enduring appeal in an earlier interview with Variety. "Many players have gone back and played the game more than once," Haddad remarked, emphasizing the game's replayability. He further noted that Hogwarts Legacy not only boasted impressive sales figures but also succeeded in bringing the magical world of Harry Potter to life in a unique way, allowing gamers to immerse themselves fully into the story.

"It brought Harry Potter to life in a new way for gamers where they could be themselves in this world, in this story," Haddad explained, crediting this immersive experience as a key factor in the game's widespread acclaim. "That’s a position that typically is held by one of these incumbent’s sequel games, and we’re so proud that we’ve been able to break into the top ranks."
