How to Start the Hermit Quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

The Hermit quest unlocks automatically as you progress through blacksmith Radovan's quests in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. After recovering the lost cart, report back to Radovan. He'll then commission you to help him forge a wedding gift, initiating the Hermit questline. Before confronting the hermit, you must gather information from the villagers in Troskowitz.

Get Information About the Hermit

First, visit the Troskowitz tavern and speak with Innkeeper Betty, exhausting all dialogue options. Afterwards, talk to other villagers (such as the alehouse maid or general trader) to gather more clues.

Talk to Gerda and Stanislav

Next, speak with Gerda in Troskowitz; she witnessed a relevant event. You can either pay her a small amount of Groschen or attempt a dialogue check to obtain information.

Then, head to Apollonia and speak with Stanislav. Again, either pay him or succeed at a dialogue check to get his account of events.

Gather Evidence

With the information gathered, find the physical evidence. Locate the cross Gerda mentioned and dig up the grave (you'll need a spade; purchase one from the Troskowitz trader or find one in a cemetery). Examine the Groschen, documents, and artifacts related to the Knights of the Cross.

After reading the documents, proceed to the quest marker in Apollonia. You'll find a hut and a clearing with a black horse; examine the horse for further clues.

Talk to the Hermit

Go to the hermit's hut. Without prior evidence, the hermit won't cooperate. Once you present the information, he’ll become more forthcoming. Choose dialogue options such as "You're suspicious," exhaust all options about the clues, and then select "Out with it!" He'll reveal his true identity as Konrad. Before giving up the sword, he instructs you to speak with a widow named Margaret and deliver a cross.

Go to the cemetery near Apollonia, speak with Margaret, and give her the cross. This initiates the Sinful Soul quest (optional; you can return to Konrad immediately).

Help Konrad or Kill Him

Approaching the hermit's hut, you'll encounter Crusaders. You can choose to help them kill Konrad or aid Konrad's escape. If you sneak to the hut, Konrad will talk. Tell him you completed the quest and ask about the sword. You can then choose to help or kill him.

After killing Konrad (which is easier than fighting the Crusaders), speak to the Crusaders and offer to return the documents for Groschen.

Get the Hermit’s Sword

North of the hut, find two entangled oak trees. The hermit's sword is stuck in the ground. Retrieve it and return to Radovan in Tachov to complete the quest.
