"Guide: Using the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia"
In *Phasmophobia*, tracking down and identifying the type of ghost haunting a location often requires clever use of in-game tools. Among these, Cursed Possessions offer powerful advantages—at a price. One of the most useful—and safest—of these is the Haunted Mirror. If you're unsure how to use it or whether it's worth the risk, here’s everything you need to know.
How to Use the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia
The Haunted Mirror remains one of the more reliable and low-risk Cursed Objects in *Phasmophobia*. Despite numerous game updates, its functionality has remained consistent, making it a valuable tool for investigators. When used correctly, the mirror provides critical information that can significantly speed up your investigation.
Once activated, the Haunted Mirror reveals the ghost’s current favorite room or area by displaying a panoramic view of that location. This visual clue allows you to quickly locate the ghost and set up your equipment before things escalate. If you're familiar with the map layout, this feature becomes even more powerful.
The Haunted Mirror typically spawns in specific locations—either hanging on a wall (like at 6 Tanglewood Drive) or lying on the floor. While the exact spawn point is fixed per map, whether it appears at all depends on random chance, which may vary depending on difficulty settings or Challenge Mode status.
To use the mirror, simply pick it up and interact with it using the appropriate key or controller button. As you hold it up, you’ll see the reflection of the ghost’s current location. However, be mindful of your surroundings—especially if you’re playing on Professional difficulty or higher, as the ghost may move after some time.
Also, avoid staring into the mirror for too long. Prolonged use drains your sanity and, if held up continuously until the end of its effect, will cause the mirror to shatter and trigger a Cursed Hunt at your current position. Always use the mirror when your sanity is high and ensure you understand what you’re seeing in the reflection before moving forward.
What Are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?

Cursed Possessions—commonly referred to as “Cursed Objects”—are special items that randomly appear in *Phasmophobia* maps. Their availability may depend on the selected difficulty or whether you're playing in Challenge Mode.
Unlike standard investigative gear that helps detect and document ghost activity with minimal danger, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts or manipulative abilities that come with significant risks. Whether or not to use them is entirely up to you and your team. There is no penalty for choosing not to engage with them.
Only one Cursed Possession will spawn per contract by default, though this can be changed in custom game settings. There are currently seven known Cursed Objects in the game:
- Summoning Circle
- Haunted Mirror
- Voodoo Doll
- Music Box
- Tarot Cards
- Ouija Board
- Monkey Paw
That concludes our guide on how to effectively use the Haunted Mirror in *Phasmophobia*. For more helpful guides and the latest updates, including insights into the *Phasmophobia* 2025 Roadmap, be sure to visit The Escapist regularly.
