GTA 6: S-Tier Potential? Ranking All Rockstar Games

May 21,25

The excitement for the new GTA 6 trailer is palpable, and if you missed it, we've delved deep into all the secrets and details it unveiled. Unfortunately, fans will need to wait until May 26, 2026, to dive into Lucia and Jason’s narrative. In the meantime, let's take a nostalgic trip down memory lane and rank the plethora of Rockstar games that have kept us entertained over the years.

Since its inception in 1998, Rockstar has crafted over 30 titles, spearheading iconic franchises like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which of these gems shines the brightest? To clarify, this list focuses solely on games developed by Rockstar, excluding published titles like LA Noire or Max Payne 2. I've ranked them using an IGN Tier List, based purely on my personal enjoyment over the years. Here's a peek at my rankings:

Rockstar Games Tier List

Red Dead Redemption 2 easily secures a spot in my S-tier as my all-time favorite game. It's joined by its predecessor and GTA 5, both trailblazers in the cinematic open-world genre. I also have a special affinity for Max Payne 3 with its mesmerizing bullet time mechanics, and GTA San Andreas, which I played at an age perhaps too young. At the other end of the spectrum, in the D-tier, sit titles like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair!, games that are universally less favored.

Do you disagree with my rankings? Do you believe Vice City outshines GTA 4? Feel free to create your own tier list and compare your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the broader IGN community.
