Acquiring the Flare Knife

The Flare Knife is surprisingly accessible early in the game. Once you achieve Level 003 Code Clearance, visit Zakka in The Warren. This vendor offers a range of items, including the Flare Knife, purchasable for 3,000 Entitlement Points. Equip it via the Loadout menu in the Personal Responsibility Portal, selecting an available Combat Item slot.

Utilizing the Flare Knife

The Flare Knife is a reusable tool specifically designed for severing Abductor limbs. This is particularly beneficial for players favoring Polearms or Heavy Melee weapons, providing a way to sever limbs without relying on Light Melee weapons. However, remember it's a single-use item per operation; repurchase is necessary for subsequent battles.

To employ the Flare Knife, lock onto a severable Abductor part. Use your Thorn to grapple onto the target area. With the Flare Knife equipped, a severing option appears, initiating a quick-time event (QTE). Rapidly mash the indicated button to successfully sever the limb. Be aware that Abductors may attempt to interrupt the process by leaping or crashing into obstacles.
