In the latest episode of Nintendo’s Creator’s Voice series, Final Fantasy VII Remake series director Naoki Hamaguchi announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is set to release on the Switch 2.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is an enhanced version of the original Final Fantasy VII Remake, featuring improved graphics, lighting, and the inclusion of the Intermission DLC, which focuses on Yuffie’s adventures in Midgar. Currently available on PS5 and PC, this title is slated to reach Nintendo’s next-generation handheld console.

Hamaguchi highlighted the potential of the Switch 2’s capabilities, stating, “With the power of the Switch 2, we can now recreate Midgar with full specs.” He further emphasized the convenience of playing on the go, noting that commuters can enjoy the game during their daily travels. Additionally, the Switch 2 version will feature GameChat, allowing players to communicate and share their gameplay experiences in real time.

Excited about the possibilities, Hamaguchi expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, saying, “I have high hopes that we can build a strong partnership between Nintendo and the Final Fantasy brand.” While only Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has been officially confirmed for the Switch 2, Hamaguchi hinted at future releases, stating, “I hope players are looking forward to the Final Fantasy VII Remake series on Switch 2,” indicating that subsequent installments, such as Rebirth and the trilogy’s finale, may also arrive on the platform.

Notably, the Final Fantasy series began on Nintendo consoles, making this news particularly significant as it marks a return to its roots with modernized gameplay.
