Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy - 6 Through the Ages Cards

View 7 ImagesThese cards are part of the "Through the Ages" bonus sheet, integrated into the main set. They are reprints of existing Magic cards, reimagined with iconic artwork and characters from various Final Fantasy games. While they don't introduce new mechanics or unique cards like those found in the recently showcased Commander decks, their art celebrates the legacy of Final Fantasy, reaching back to the first game in the series.

0$7.99 at TCGPlayerUnlike the cards in the main set, Through the Ages cards won't be legal in Magic's Standard format (although existing legal cards will retain their status), serving instead as alternate art versions of these beloved cards. You can find them in both the premium Collector Boosters and one in every three regular Play Boosters, which are ideal for Limited events like Draft and Sealed.

If you're planning to dive deep into this set at your local game store or online on Magic: The Gathering Arena, expect to encounter these cards frequently. Five of the six cards are Rares, meaning they're less common, but Thrum of the Vestige, an Uncommon, is a reskin of the iconic Lightning Bolt and is likely to make a significant impact.

PlayThe Warrior of Light reprinting of Jodah, the Unifier, is sure to be a fan favorite, featuring Amano's art from the original Final Fantasy Japanese boxart. Similarly, Amano's art for Final Fantasy 4's Cecil Harvey adorns Tymna the Weaver, a powerful partner commander that has only been reprinted once before.

These cards will be available in physical form as part of the broader Final Fantasy set on June 13, with digital versions launching on MTG Arena and MTGO on June 10. And for Final Fantasy fans new to Magic, there's additional excitement as FF7 Remake series director Tetsuya Nomura hinted that Sephiroth's card design holds a mysterious secret.
