Fallout 76 Season 20 plunges players into the irradiated heart of Appalachia, offering the unique opportunity to become a Ghoul. This update, released March 18th, introduces a wealth of ghoul-themed features, mechanics, and cosmetics, transforming your C.A.M.P. and gameplay experience.

Unleash Your Inner Ghoul

Fallout 76's latest update lets you embrace your inner ghoul through the "Ghoulification" process. Initiated by undertaking the "Leap of Faith" questline, this journey leads you to a new area within the Savage Divide, where you'll encounter unique characters aiding your transformation. Becoming a ghoul grants access to exclusive abilities – Glow and Feral – and a selection of 30 powerful "Gherks" (Ghoul-exclusive Perks).

The Feral ability replaces hunger and thirst, offering stat boosts based on your Feral meter. However, depleting it to 0% unleashes a dramatic shift: +150% Melee Damage, but at the cost of -5 Endurance, -99 Charisma, -30 Max HP, -20 Max AP, and a significant reduction in accuracy.

The Glow ability allows you to consume radiation, granting immunity to diseases and mutations, and, as the name suggests, a radiant glow. It also boosts maximum health, heals damage, and synergizes with certain Gherks.

With 28 Perks to choose from and 2 new legendary perks, you can customize your Ghoul build. Note that Perks related to hunger, thirst, and chemical resistance are unavailable, as these are irrelevant to Ghoul physiology.

A Ghoul's Life in Appalachia

Ghoulification enhances exploration of the irradiated wasteland, thanks to the benefits of Gherks and new abilities. However, this transformation might strain your relationships; factions like the Brotherhood of Steel will become hostile, potentially blocking certain questlines.

Fortunately, a new NPC, Jaye, provides disguises, allowing you to bypass these restrictions. Should you tire of Ghoul life, you can revert to human form via the Character Screen. This is a one-way change; the "Leap of Faith" quest cannot be repeated. Instead, Ghoul re-transformation is available for 1000 Atoms.

Level 50 Character Boost and Patch Notes

Season 20 also includes a Level 50 Character Boost (1500 Atoms), providing a significant head start for new and returning players. This boost unlocks access to Daily Ops, Public Events, and parts of the storyline.

The patch further incorporates bug fixes, balance adjustments (including accessibility improvements, combat balancing, and weapon damage changes), and sets the stage for the upcoming "The Big Bloom" update on April 29th.
