Baldur's Gate 3's hidden depths continue to unveil themselves. Larian Studios' RPG is a treasure trove of secrets, many unearthed by dedicated dataminers.

One such discovery, a particularly grim ending, has resurfaced during testing of the game's eighth major patch. This ending allows the player character to forcefully remove and destroy the illithid parasite, surviving unscathed. A subsequent choice arises: depart with companions, or leave them behind.

The community speculates that patch eight will fully integrate this alternative conclusion into the game.

Recent layoffs at BioWare, the studio behind Dragon Age: The Veilguard, have ignited conversations about the gaming industry's current climate. In contrast, Michael Daus, Larian Studios' publishing director, remains active online.

He recently commented on these industry-wide job cuts, emphasizing the importance of valuing employees and advocating for leadership to shoulder the burden instead of frontline developers. He stressed the vital role of retaining institutional knowledge for future projects, arguing against the dismissal of large portions of development teams between or after project completion.
