First Released in 2006
Originally developed by Bethesda Game Studios and co-published by Bethesda Softworks and 2K Games, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was initially slated as a launch title for the Xbox 360 in late 2005. However, due to delays, it was released for Xbox 360 and PC in March 2006.
The mobile version, crafted by Superscape and published by Vir2L Studios, hit the market in May 2006. The PlayStation 3 version followed in March 2007 in North America and April 2007 in Europe. Although a PSP version was in the works, it was eventually canceled. Oblivion also saw various bundled releases, including packages with Fallout 3 and BioShock.
Recent leaks from developer Virtuos' website have fueled excitement with promotional art and comparisons between the original and the upcoming remastered version. The remastered game is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S (including Game Pass), and PC.
Rumors also hint at a Deluxe Edition, featuring bonus weapons and a horse armor DLC pack, though Bethesda has yet to confirm these details. Stay tuned to Bethesda’s livestream on April 22 for the official reveal of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
