EA Says Next Battlefield Is 'Expected' Fiscal Year 2026
The anticipation for the next installment in the *Battlefield* series is building as EA has announced that the new game is slated for release during its fiscal year 2026, spanning from April 2025 to March 2026. This news came during EA's financial results report for the third quarter of its current fiscal year, ending March 2025. To give fans a taste of what's to come, EA released a first official look at the game's pre-alpha gameplay this week, introducing the innovative *Battlefield Labs* initiative. This player-driven testing platform is designed to gather crucial feedback ahead of the game's launch, marking a significant step in the development process.
In a move to bolster the development of the new *Battlefield*, EA has formed *Battlefield Studios*, a collective of four studios: DICE in Stockholm, Sweden, focusing on multiplayer; Motive, known for the *Dead Space* remake and *Star Wars: Squadrons*, handling single-player missions and multiplayer maps; Ripple Effect in the U.S., tasked with attracting new players; and Criterion in the UK, working on the single-player campaign. This collaboration is entering a critical phase, with EA emphasizing the importance of player feedback to refine and perfect the game.
EA's commitment to *Battlefield* is evident, despite the closure of Ridgeline Games last year, which was developing a standalone single-player *Battlefield* game. The new game is set to return to a modern setting, a strategic move after *Battlefield 2042*'s mixed reception. Concept art released in September hinted at features like ship-to-ship and helicopter combat, alongside natural disasters such as wildfires. The next *Battlefield* game aims to correct the course set by *Battlefield 2042*, which faced criticism for its Specialist system and large-scale 128-player maps.
