In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, there's no direct sprint button; your character naturally transitions into a sprint after a few steps. While sprinting helps you move quickly, navigating the vast battlefields to reach other officers swiftly is crucial for saving them and securing victory.

This is where your horse becomes invaluable, available for summoning at any time in the overworld or during battle. You can also engage in combat from horseback, perfect for executing swift hit-and-run tactics. Let's explore how to unlock your first horse, enhance its abilities, and switch between different horses.

How To Unlock The First Horse In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Unlocking your first horse in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is straightforward and free. During Chapter 1, after completing the second major battle, "Test Of Zheng Fei," a merchant will appear in the overworld as you journey towards the Battle Of Guangzong. You'll find him northeast of Wan Castle, just before reaching the camp, standing next to his horse. Engage in conversation with the merchant, and he'll gift you the horse, which will be automatically equipped.

To summon your horse and mount it instantly, press down on the left joystick if you're using a console, or press V on your keyboard.

How To Level Up Your Horse In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Your horse gains experience points (XP) from missions and main story battles, even if you don't actively use it during these engagements. However, it won't earn XP from Skirmishes. Missions, marked by a red diamond with a soldier icon, are medium-length fights that contribute to your horse's XP. The XP earned depends on the battle's duration and how extensively you utilize your horse, including charging into enemies. As your horse levels up, it unlocks unique buffs at regular intervals, varying with each horse.

How To Switch Horses In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Your initial horse comes equipped by default, but you'll have the opportunity to acquire and switch to other horses. You can manage your horses in the Battle Preparation menu, which is the last option on the left side of the screen. Each horse boasts unique perks, with some being faster or more advantageous than others, making it wise to switch when you acquire a new one. To obtain new horses, you must maximize the peace level of a region, after which a new horse will be available as a reward at a nearby waypoint.
