"Dragon Quest 12 Details to Be Unveiled Gradually, Says Creator Yuji Horii"
Dragon Quest 12 remains in active development, with series creator Yuji Horii reassuring fans that updates will be shared "little by little." During a livestream with his radio show group KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku, Horii mentioned that the team at Square Enix is diligently working on the game. This update marks the first news since May 2024, when Horii acknowledged the passing of the series' iconic character designer Akira Toriyama and composer Koichi Sugiyama. Additionally, Yu Miyake, the lead producer of Dragon Quest, had transitioned to head Square Enix's mobile game division by that time.
Concerns about Dragon Quest 12's potential cancellation arose amidst restructuring at Square Enix and a scarcity of updates. However, Horii's recent statements have alleviated these worries, confirming that the project is indeed progressing.
Originally announced during the 35th anniversary celebration of the Dragon Quest series, Dragon Quest 12 is poised to be the next mainline installment following 2017's Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age.
