Majima's Pirate Adventure Sets Sail in 2025

A Bigger, Bolder Yakuza Experience Awaits

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is set to redefine expectations. RGG Studio President Masayoshi Yokoyama announced that the game's world and story will be approximately 1.3 to 1.5 times the size of Like a Dragon Gaiden. This isn't a simple expansion; it's a completely new scale of adventure.

Yokoyama hinted at the game's expansive scope in an interview with Famitsu: "We don’t even know the exact area of the city itself," he teased. "Of course there’s Honolulu City, which appeared in [Infinite Wealth], and there are various stages, such as Madlantis, so I think the game volume is much larger than [Like a Dragon Gaiden]."

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii - Expanding the WorldThe game will be packed with content, from the signature brawling combat to a plethora of quirky side activities and minigames. Yokoyama also suggested that the traditional "Gaiden" label as a mere spin-off is evolving, stating that the concept is "gradually disappearing." This hints at a fully realized experience comparable to mainline entries.

The charismatic Goro Majima, once again voiced by Hidenari Ugaki, takes center stage in this unexpected pirate adventure. The circumstances leading to Majima's piratical lifestyle remain shrouded in mystery, even to voice actor Ugaki, who expressed his excitement while remaining tight-lipped about plot details.

"The information about the game has finally been announced, but there are many other elements and there is still a lot of information I want to tell you," Ugaki commented. "I have a tendency to talk a lot about various things, but I’ve been told not to say anything, so I’m not completely satisfied yet."
