DOOM on Apple Adapter: Now HDMI-Compatible

Feb 12,25

The DOOM community's ingenuity knows no bounds! A recent feat saw NyanSatan successfully running the classic DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This surprisingly powerful adapter, boasting its own iOS-based firmware and a processor clocked at up to 168 MHz, became the unlikely host for the iconic shooter. The process involved accessing the adapter's firmware and then executing the game, utilizing a MacBook to overcome the adapter's lack of internal memory.

News on a new DOOM iteration also emerged: DOOM: The Dark Ages. This version prioritizes accessibility, offering players extensive customization options. Executive producer Marty Stratton highlighted the studio's commitment to making the game enjoyable for a wider audience. Players can adjust enemy damage and difficulty, projectile speed and damage, and even fine-tune aspects like game pace, enemy aggression, and parry timing. Furthermore, Stratton confirmed that prior knowledge of DOOM: The Dark Ages isn't necessary to understand its storyline or that of DOOM: Eternal.
