Development of Crysis 4 Temporarily Paused Due to Financial Difficulties

Feb 22,25

Crytek announced a restructuring, resulting in the layoff of approximately 60 employees—about 15% of its 400-person workforce. This follows financial difficulties experienced by the company.

Concurrently, Crytek revealed that development of the next Crysis game has been paused, a decision made in Q3 2024. The studio is now focusing all efforts on Hunt: Showdown 1896. While staff reassignment to other projects was considered, it proved impractical, necessitating the layoffs despite cost-cutting measures.

Crytek's future plans center on expanding Hunt: Showdown 1896 content, while the new Crysis title's release is indefinitely postponed. Affected employees will receive severance and career support. Despite the challenges, Crytek remains positive about its prospects, emphasizing continued development of Hunt: Showdown 1896 and its CRYENGINE technology.
