Although Yetuga marks your first boss encounter, don't be fooled into thinking it's an easy fight. With the combat mechanics fresh in your mind, you'll need to utilize all your skills to emerge victorious.

Yetuga is an aggressive adversary, relentlessly attacking when its territory is threatened. As you reach the end of the Mount Heinmach level, you'll face this hulking beast capable of both long and short-range attacks, including a leaping slam. To overcome Yetuga, focus on mastering your dodges and parries to minimize damage.

Yetuga's arsenal includes:

  • A two-hit combo starting with a left-handed smash downward followed by a right-handed uppercut.
  • A four-hit combo with horizontal swipes using either its left or right arm.
  • A downward smash with both arms.
  • A leaping single-handed smash.
  • A jumping grab.
  • A charge.

As you familiarize yourself with its patterns, strike back during the brief windows between its attacks. Parrying, except for the jumping grab, not only helps you avoid damage but also deals significant Stamina damage to Yetuga. Use its aggressive nature to your advantage; for instance, dodging its charge and allowing Yetuga to collide with a wall creates a brief opening for you to attack. This is your chance to shatter the ice spikes on its back, weakening its offensive capabilities.

In the second phase, parrying becomes even more crucial as you can counter all attacks except the grab, conserving your Stamina. Maintain the pressure to transition to the next stage. When Yetuga roars and powers up, keep your distance. It will then pick up a giant rock to smash at you; timing your dodge or parry is essential to avoid damage. Additionally, Yetuga will use frost breath to create ice spikes, so either move away or parry at the right moment. Seize opportunities to land Potent Attacks, and when Yetuga is exhausted, unleash a Brutal Attack to deal significant damage, hastening its defeat.

Victory over Yetuga rewards you with 4,800 Lacrima, along with Frozen Mountain gear items and the Necklace of Resolve.
