Idris Elba envisions a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action film with Keanu Reeves

Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, has publicly expressed his strong desire for a live-action adaptation of the game, starring himself and Keanu Reeves. In a recent interview promoting Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (where he and Reeves share the screen), Elba stated that a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action film featuring their characters would be incredible.

Elba's enthusiasm stems from the potential synergy between his character, Solomon Reed, and Reeves' iconic portrayal of Johnny Silverhand. He believes their on-screen chemistry would be electrifying. The prospect of a reunion, following their separate work on the game, is clearly exciting for the actor.

This shared vision isn't entirely unfounded. Variety reported in October 2023 that CD Projekt Red (CDPR) is indeed developing a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 project in collaboration with Anonymous Content. While details remain scarce and updates have been slow, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the ongoing Witcher live-action series suggests a Cyberpunk adaptation is a realistic possibility.
