Confront Wakasa or Otama: Assassin’s Creed Shadows Guide
In *Assassin's Creed Shadows*, not every choice carries significant weight, but the decision to confront either Wakasa or Otama during the "The Tea Ceremony" mission will have lasting impacts on your gameplay experience. Both characters raise suspicions during the tea ceremony, yet there's a clear choice that simplifies the rest of your quest.
Should You Confront Wakasa or Otama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
Following the tea ceremony in *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, the best course of action is to confront Wakasa. She is the Golden Teppo of the Onryo, and by correctly identifying her, you pave the way for a straightforward resolution to the mission. When you choose to confront Wakasa, she will invite Naoe to her home for a private discussion. Upon entering, you'll notice a telling sign of her true identity — the kasa (straw hat) she wore as the Onryo during the prologue, hanging on her wall.
After some dialogue, Naoe has the opportunity to end the mission swiftly by taking Wakasa's Teppo from the wall and shooting her at point-blank range.

What If You Confront Otama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
Choosing to confront Otama after the tea ceremony leads to a more challenging path. Although you'll eventually kill Wakasa, your initial mistake forces you into a complex stealth and combat scenario against numerous enemies. Confronting Otama results in Naoe chasing and eliminating her, but a letter found on Otama reveals her own corruption. Meanwhile, Wakasa uses the time to fortify herself in Osaka castle with her soldiers.
To reach Wakasa, you must travel to Osaka castle, either fighting her soldiers or sneaking past them. If you have unlocked the Osaka Tenshu fast travel point, the journey becomes slightly easier, though you'll still face some opposition. Even if you manage to sneak up on Wakasa, a one-on-one confrontation is unavoidable. While the boss fight isn't overly difficult, confronting Wakasa directly from the start offers a less complicated and more satisfying cinematic kill, especially considering her role in Naoe’s father's death.
Understanding the optimal decision post-Tea Ceremony mission equips you to tackle the more demanding challenges in *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*. To enhance your gameplay further, learn how to gain XP and level up quickly, and discover methods to earn more Knowledge Points, enabling you to unlock additional skills for Naoe and Yasuke.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
