Speak with Casper and Havel

The quest begins with Casper Rudolf, who can be found near his drink cart on the east side of Kuttenberg City. If you enter through the east gate and continue straight, you’ll quickly locate him. His goal is to uncover the secret behind the monks’ exceptional wine, but before you reach that point, there are several preparatory steps.

Fully engage in dialogue with Casper to learn about Havel and the book he left with Adleta. This provides different approaches for how to proceed. If you wish to retrieve the book from Adleta, head to the southeast corner of Kuttenberg’s inner wall during the morning or afternoon when she’s likely tending her garden. Bring five Marigolds with you before approaching her. You may either try to meet her before her brother Hugo arrives or ask Hugo for permission to speak with her.

When conversing with Adleta, maintain a kind tone and explain that Casper needs the book. You can attempt a skill check to obtain it or offer the Marigolds as a gift in exchange. Once acquired, read the book from your inventory to gain insight into impressing Havel.

Alternatively, if you prefer not to go through Adleta, you can directly visit Havel at his inn in Kuttenberg City. Boost your Charisma to at least 18 by wearing an appropriate outfit and improving your drinking skills beforehand. Then, approach Havel and choose the following dialogue options:

• Germany.
• Let’s do it.
• That’s a very fine gift.
• Steinberger.
• It’s missing ginger.

With these responses, you’ll make a strong impression on Havel, prompting him to reveal the monastery’s secret ingredient. Return to Casper with this information to proceed.

Find the Monastery’s Secret Ingredient

Next, travel to the vineyard located north of Kuttenberg. Speak with the recruiter to begin the “Under the Straw Hat” side quest. While completing this isn’t necessary, starting it prevents you from being seen as a trespasser while exploring the area.

Locate Jerome, who should be sitting on a bench near the main building. After speaking with him, sneak inside the building, turn left, and head to the storeroom. Use your lockpicking abilities to open the chests inside, where you’ll find Sulphur Wicks—Casper’s required item. If you're looking to earn additional Groschen, collect five seedlings from the garden behind the main building before leaving.

If you decide to finish “Under the Straw Hat,” perform tasks such as clearing plants around the vines and moving sacks. Once enough work has been done, report back to Jerome to complete the quest and claim your reward.

Otherwise, return to Casper and hand over the Sulphur Wicks—and the seedlings if you collected them.
