For Clash of Clans enthusiasts, today is a momentous occasion as your favorite characters finally make their screen debut. Well, at least on television screens—Netflix is launching a new animated series based on Supercell's iconic real-time strategy game, Clash of Clans.

You might recall that just about a month ago, we reported on Supercell's search for a senior film and TV development executive. At the time, it was reasonable to assume Supercell had plans to expand its IP into other media—and it looks like those plans are materializing faster than expected.

Currently, we only have a short teaser confirming the animated series is in production. Details like the release window, production studio, animation team, and other specifics are still under wraps. But the project is officially happening, and that in itself is huge news.

As for what to expect, the only clue we have so far is a surprisingly muscular and intense-looking Barbarian. Choosing one of Clash of Clans' most iconic units is a smart move—yet it also hints that the series might offer a somewhat more serious take on the franchise.

I say somewhat because a deeply dramatic, ultra-serious adaptation of Clash of Clans likely wouldn't suit the broad, family-friendly audience Supercell typically attracts. However, an action-packed series in the style of Samurai Jack could definitely work. For now, all we can do is wait and see.
